Our purpose

Today, only 4 out of 30 students choose to specialize in Digital and Computer Science (DCS), according to the Ministry of Education and Youth. Girls represent just 10% of IT students.

Over the last 30 years, the number of women computer engineers in France has decreased from one third of the workforce to just 15%. And the gendered inequalities of access to digital technology persist.

This underrepresentation is reflected in the workplace, where women are under-represented in the computer and digital professions. There has been a decline in their presence in the digital sector, whereas before the 1980s, computer science was a key entry point for women in the scientific fields.

This is why BECOMTECH is working to promote gender diversity and equality in the IT and digital professions by offering inclusive and technical programmes for girls.

How we work

BECOMTECH offers innovative projects and a unique position. Our actions are based on four axes :

Active pedagogies

The learner is a player of her learning: she builds knowledge through research situations and develops projects.

Non-mixity

This guarantees an environment of trust and mutual support, in a context where the remoteness of digital technology results in a low sense of competence among teenage girls.

Free inclusive education

Attention is paid by the association to the inclusion of all, whatever the social background of the participants, in an objective of equal opportunities.

Long-term support

The commitment to the Ambassador community has no time limit.

Our programmes

BECOMTECH offers 4 innovative, free and complementary programmes. They are respectively addressed to teenagers, then to BECOMTECH Ambassadors, and finally to students of higher education.
